This year she is aiming to win the race, but admitted a podium finish would be just as sweet.
“There is an unbelievable atmosphere at the Madison and it is much more relaxed type of carnival compared to others, so I am absolutely looking forward to racing in Bendigo,” Stewart said.
One year on since she last raced in Bendigo, the talented 19-year-old has won two world titles in the omnium and team pursuit at the junior track world championships and gold in the time trial at the junior road world championships.
Earlier this year, she also was a member of the Australian senior women’s team pursuit gold medal team at the World Cup.
Stewart is hoping to add a Bendigo Madison title to her growing collection.
She is teaming up with Lauren Perry for the race.
Stewart said it was a nice change to race with Perry rather than against her, having grown up cycling against one another.
“We have been in the national team together and have become good friends,” the Tasmanian said.
Stewart said she was gearing up for a big race.
“You have to be concentrating the whole time and have to be prepared for when the sprint comes,” she said.
“It is such a great adrenalin rush, I am pumped.”
The Innes Motors-sponsored women's Madison will be raced on Saturday from 8pm at the Tom Flood Sports Centre.
