Bridegroom: Scott Lorenz
Wedding date: March 1, 2014
The meeting
It was near the end of a night out clubbing at Star Bar in Bendigo and Scott was about to go home when he saw this “little hottie” and thought he’d throw out one last hi-five. We exchanged numbers and the rest is history.
The proposal
Scott had secretly asked Hannah’s dad’s permission to marry his daughter before a trip to Halls Gap. We hiked up to the Pinnacle in freezing conditions and he proposed on one knee at the summit. On the way back down I slipped and Scott was more concerned about the ring than my wellbeing.
The wedding day
Our wedding was at St Andrew’s Church at 2.30pm. The bride was the third generation to be married at the church. The bridal party was transported in classic Jaguar cars and had to make a few laps around the block as the bride was quite early to the church.
The day of the wedding was forecast to rain in the afternoon but fortunately the rain held off until just before the reception, much to the bride’s relief. As Scott’s grandmother wasn’t able to attend the wedding, we made a visit to the nursing home so that she could share in our special day. Our reception was held at Quills restaurant where we enjoyed an exceptional three-course dinner with our family and friends and were entertained by the wonderful A to Z Disco.
The dress
Designed by Tara Keely from New York Couture, it is made of ivory alencon lace. It featured a strapless sweetheart neckline, elongated bodice and scalloped tiered skirt and chapel train, tied at the natural waist with a satin ribbon belt featuring a beaded appliqué.
The cake
It was made by Sue Schriber at www.choclartiste.com.au. The cake was a three-tiered traditional fruitcake with ivory royal icing and cascading hand-crafted roses.
The flowers
Miranda from Eternal Vase created our beautiful bouquets featuring white roses.
The photography
The photos were taken by Nick Wilkesmann at www.nwphotography.com.au
The honeymoon
The happy couple went to a coral coast resort in Fiji for a week.
