The 24-year-old stands at seven foot one and weighs at 111kgs.
Vandenberg played with NCAA Division 1 North Carolina State Wolfpack between 2009 and 2014.
After missing out in the 2014 NBA Draft, Vandenberg joined the New York Knicks for the 2014 NBA Summer League.
On October 23 last year, he signed with the New York Knicks in the NBA, two days later he was cut from the team.
“Jordan is one of the key pieces we felt we were missing when Ben Allen informed he was unable to play," Braves coach Ben Harvey said.
"Jordan is a versatile big man who will produce through both scoring and rebounding.
"Jordan will also be a great threat on the defensive end blocking shots and changing shots for the Braves”
“We are very excited to have Jordan in the program as we continue to build ahead of our first game on April 10."
Vandenberg will arrive in Australia on Friday.
