He started 2013 in superb fashion by winning the Bendigo Bank-sponsored $!5,000 Maryborough Highland Gift on New Year's Day at Princes Park.

An action-packed athletics card at the Madison includes the Bendigo Bank Black Opal 400m, the Flack Advisory-backed Black Pearl women's 400m, and the backmarkers mile.

Many Bendigo athletes will chase home-track victories across a wide variety of distances at the carnival.

TWO of the biggest events on the Athletics Bendigo track calendar will be run at this weekend’s Bendigo International Madison carnival.

The Flack Advisory Richard Kitt Memorial (1500m) and Hilson Builders-sponsored Sally Conroy Memorial (200m) have drawn big fields.

There are 29 entrants for Saturday night’s running of the Richard Kitt Memorial.

Three heats of the Sally Conroy Memorial will be run on Saturday afternoon to determine the eight runners for Sunday’s final.
