David Walker's resignation was announced to senior Bendigo Health staff yesterday.
It is believed the executive director resigned for personal reasons.
The organisation's website says Mr Walker's time at Bendigo Health spans more than 10 years. He has held the position of executive director new Bendigo hospital project for the past three years and the position of executive director buildings and infrastructure for the past five years.
Bendigo Health chief executive officer John Mulder said Mr Walker was an 'integral part of the Bendigo Health team since he started in 2002 as an engineer'.
"He was involved in many key milestones at Bendigo Health, of particular note was his work on the Bendigo Hospital Project,” he said.
“Yesterday I received David’s resignation for personal reasons. I thank David for his contribution to our health service and wish him well for the future.”
Mr Walker's resignation comes as the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission investigates serious allegations of corruption against one of the hospital's senior construction managers.
Bendigo Health stood down one of its senior construction managers over serious allegations of corruption in November last year.
