Rather than Taj Mahal projects that will never bring anything other than debt to Bendigo, a little less ambition and grand-standing could bring forth a much better city.
1. Keep the Kangaroo Flat Community Center and re-open it for bookings, rather than destroying a valuable community asset.
2. Build a more modest swimming pool for the Kangaroo Flat community, and plan for future pools to serve growth areas of the city such as Epsom.
3. Maintain the current airport infrastructure to a reasonable standard, rather than dragging a white elephant from a fantasy.
Too many Bendigo initiatives serve a few vested interests at the expense of many. More inclusive, less divisive, community based options are a modest solution to the increasingly bitter divisions we face at present.
