Leading senior constable Todd Deary of the Bendigo Highway Patrol said the 26-year-old P-plater from Bendigo had been travelling along Hargreaves Street towards the CBD when she fell asleep at the wheel about 1.45pm.
"She's been feeling tired prior to having the accident and what's happened is she's tried to drive through it and the next minute she's just fallen asleep at the wheel and she's woken up prior to the collision and it's just been too late," he said.
"The message is that if you're fatigued, stop and have a power nap, don't try to drive through it or you'll end up off the road."
Police are investigating.
