MORE than 600 people are expected to fill the Bendigo Exhibition Centre on March 14 for an event to raise money for the family of Ian Baker.
Ian was killed in November last year in a high speed boat crash in Sydney, leaving behind his wife and four daughters in Bendigo.
Family, friends and Telstra coworkers have combined to organise the event, which will include auctions, live entertainment and a three course meal.
Comedian Adam Rozenbachs will give a performance on the night, while former Telstra Road to Discovery winner Gena Rose Bruce will also perform.
Having already sold almost 500 tickets, the group was hoping to sell a further 150 tickets before the cut off day next weekend.
The venue can accommodate up to 1000 people.
Organiser Jessica Pearse said they wanted to give as much support to the family as possible.
"Since the accident, we have really wanted to get behind Jo and the girls," she said.
"About a month after, we decided to organise an event like this.
"There are some huge items to auction on the night and we've had so much interest."
Items up for auction include a Ducati motorcycle, a range of holiday packages including one week's accommodation in France, appliances, jewelry, food packages, tools and sporting memorabilia.
There is also a tickets and accommodation package to an episode of the Footy Show among the more than 250 items.
Ninety items will be auctioned live, while the others will be silent auctions.
A trust was also established soon after the accident to help the family with school and other living costs.
Tickets are $80 for the event, starting at 6pm at the Bendigo Exhibition Centre on March 14.
Bookings can be confirmed before March 8 on 0439 910 883 to aid with catering.
