While Airdrie joins the Storm from Moe, he previously played in two Casey Cardinia football league premierships with Beaconsfield and was selected at full-back in the club’s 2001-10 Team of the Decade.
“Kane is a mature, solid-bodied defender who adds even more experience and leadership to the Storm side,” Strathfieldsaye said in its recruiting announcement.
“Kane has also been endorsed by former opposition player and new Storm signing Matt Ferguson, who describes him as a competitive, good-old-fashioned defender.”
The signing of Airdrie follows the Storm’s recent addition of ex-AFL player David Gallagher.
Gallagher played 33 AFL games for the Adelaide Crows and Carlton between 1999 and 2002.
Gallagher, 34, is also a three-time premiership player, former captain and dual best and fairest winner with VFL club Sandringham.
