The motion to amalgamate the Bendigo District Golf Association and Women’s Golf Bendigo District was passed at annual general meetings of the two groups on February 20.
The newly created organisation is known as Golf Central Victoria.
Inaugural committee members elected to GCV included Daniel Nancarrow as president, Tristan Wearne as vice-president, Irene Murdoch as secretary, Fran Sokel as assistant secretary, Jason Roberts as junior co-ordinator and Loretta Prowse as ladies’ captain.
The positions of treasurer and men’s captain still need to be filled.
President Nancarrow said a busy but exciting time was ahead.
“We are very keen to work with Golf Victoria and look at how we can reinvigorate the game and get more people involved,” he said. “We also want to get people who are already playing golf back involved in district events.”
