Groom's name: Tana Kiak (Tk)
Wedding date: January 24, 2015
The meeting:
Tk and Katy met in Garoka, PNG.
Tk was working as a new doctor when Katy returned for her second volunteer placement working as a nurse and midwife.
They connected immediately and have had an international relationship since that time.
The wedding:
We were married at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Kyneton, with the reception at Campaspe Downs.
The bridal waltz was Joe Cocker’s ‘You are so Beautiful to me’.
The reception was attended by Tk’s parents travelling from PNG for the event.
Many other friends and family from PNG also attended.
Katy’s close family were by her side as well as friends from around Australia and the world.
We both wanted the day to be personal and individual for each of the guests.
The paper flowers made by Katie’s friend Lisa had personal messages and emails on the flowers in the bouquet.
Katy’s Aunty Mary-Lou and friend Bec Hibbert sang during the service, and Katy and her family walked to the church from their home in Kyneton, as they did so many times as a young family.
The cake:
Personal friends of the bride, Mary and Lisa Stanchinotti from Macedon, made the cake as a present for the happy couple.
The wedding dress:
Katy bought her dress from Kylie J in Sydney Road, Brunswick.
It was ivory white with a detailed lace bodice. At the waist was a diamond belt which fell away to a full skirt.
It had an impressive train with detailed lace throughout it.
