Cath started her volunteer work by joining the Bendigo Farmers Market committee, and started volunteering as a way to get involved and give back to the community.
Cath’s role as the market's stage co-ordinator is to organise the stallholders, showcase produce vendors from across Bendigo and organise musical talent from across the region.
Her main focus this year is keeping up to date with events and special days. This year, the Year of the Goat, Cath has been arranging for Chinese people to explain to people and farmers what the year symbolises.
“It is an absolute pleasure helping out the farmers and people,” Cath said.
She tries to incorporate little bits of everything so people can see everything that Bendigo and surrounding districts have to offer. “I am always trying to keep the market relevant with new things.”
Cath said anyone who wanted to get into volunteering should give it a go, talk to people and just get involved.
