St Paul’s: This Sunday is the second Sunday in Lent.
We are reminded that in our baptism (our covenant with God) we take on our Christian identity. We are to live as disciples of Christ and keep the faith.
The life of faith is modelled on the pattern of Jesus, the suffering servant, whose self-denying love for others led to the cross. We pray that we will never be ashamed to own our Christian identity.
Services are 8am – said Eucharist; 9.30 – choral Eucharist; 11am – celebration Eucharist with children’s church; and 6pm – relaxed worship followed by a light supper.

OASIS CHRISTIAN CHURCH
Pastor John’s message last Sunday encouraged the congregation to step out with Faith and obedience to the Lord, knowing that the times when things look impossible are the times to praise, pray and look expectantly to the Lord for fulfillment.
The Prophet Elijah illustrates the life of Faith for all those desiring to step out in trust, in spite of circumstances.
In 1 Kings 18 Elijah challenged the people to take a stand; to follow whoever was the true God.
Although the prophets of Baal raved all afternoon to produce rain, no one answered them. Then Elijah directed the people to bring 12 stones, representing the 12 tribes of Israel, wood and four barrels of water, and declared at the evening sacrifice God will speak.
The fire from the Lord fell and consumed the sacrifice. Notice their meagre amount of water was the sacrifice.
Then Elijah prayed seven times and the rain came, which was the final proof that the Lord God of Israel was supreme.
Expect that when God guides, He will also provide. Be flexible; His provision may come in unconventional ways.
Pastor Samuel Tshisekedi will be our guest speaker this Sunday, March 1. Come and join us at 10am at the Long Gully Community Centre, 27 Havilah Road, Bendigo.
Inquiries to 5443 1468 or 0402 087 083.
PRESBYTERIAN
Eaglehawk: Last Sunday Pastor Steven told how “The faithful bless their children”, Hebrews 11 V20-23.
We are born into this carnal world, but praise be to God, we can, through faith in the risen Lord, be born again to everlasting life.
With believing parents, with a strong faith, children have the opportunity to accept Christ.
The example set by the way they live is the first stage of learning for children.
Not all children will follow the example the parents have set. Satan will bring the shadow of doubt into their lives.
Parents must strive to teach their children to have faith in God and His promises. This will help them to put aside the sinful world and receive God’s blessings. God must be given priority in all things done and said.
The believing parents must stay focused on what Jesus has done and promised. That way they will be a blessing to their children and to all those around them.
On Sunday, March 1, at 10am, the worship service will be our quarterly communion service.
On Wednesday, March 4, the 9am weekly prayer meeting will be followed by Bible study at 10.30am.
All inquiries should be directedto to Pastor Steven on 408 990 903.
St John’s: Last Sunday at St John’s, the Reverend Philip Burns continued his series on 1 Peter by preaching from 1 Peter 1:22-25.
When Peter told his readers that they had had been redeemed by through the precious blood of Christ, he urged them to therefore have a sincere, pure and fervent love for one another.
This kind of love would be evidence that they had been made new (born again) through the Word of God which they had received and believed.
Love for others will also be the main evidence that we also belong to Jesus and know the depth and the value of his redeeming love.
Home Groups combined meeting is tonight at 7.30pm before O-week dessert is served for the church progressive dinner at 8.45pm.
Ladies’ Bible Study meets on Wednesdays at 1.30pm.
Next Sunday at 10.30am, the Reverend Philip Burns will continue his series on 1st Peter, the Lord’s Supper will be shared and Sunday school will continue. Morning tea will follow in the hall.

Reforming Church:
Everybody wants to grow. We want to be healthy and growing as a person. We have our gyms, our health section of the supermarket, our academic tutorials and support, and now the new industry of life coaching.
Everybody wants to grow, and particularly in character. But what does that really look like? How does one measure this?
Will life coaching do anything? What does it look like to be a “better person”?
In our three-week series at Reforming Church we have been looking at what it means to be truly human by making disciple-makers of Jesus.
We are a church of people who connect, grow and serve.
We heard last Sunday from John 15 that Jesus makes a big claim: that to truly grow and see a transformed character, bearing fruit in a life that lasts forever, can only come about by being joined to Jesus.
As a church we grow in healthy character by believing in Jesus and being like Him. This is what it means to grow as disciple-making disciples who undertake Jesus core business in the world today.
This coming Sunday we welcome new university students to our city and see what God says about serving in whatever we do in His world.
Would you like to connect to Jesus, to grow and serve the church and thus serve the world?
Then come and check out who Jesus is and what he has done for you at Reforming Church.
We have a 10.30am service and a 5pm service. Find us at Bendigo South East College, in the Theatre Auditorium in Ellis Street. All are welcome.

SOUTHERN GATEWAY
On Sunday Pastor Peter preached from Zechariah 5:5-11. This vision given out by this prophet indicates the wickedness of Israel being punished in their time at Babylon.
The prophet has an amazing number of prophecies of the Messiah... Jesus. He foretells the coming of the Saviour for all mankind.
We must be careful not to judge the past sins without looking at the sins of society today. What Israel endured was a consequence of their turning to idolatry and rejection of God.
We have to avoid the same sins. Society turns its back on God in so many ways and in their unbelief and disobedience we will come under great distress as God withdraws his favour over the nation.
Next Sunday is our Missions Sunday followed by a free shared lunch.
Our night hosting Sondra Baras from Israel was a mighty success, with a generous crowd attending this wonderful talk on the efforts of the Jewish people resettling Biblical Israel.
There will be a Mighty Men’s Conference at Elaine (between Geelong and Ballarat) on March 13-15.
