More than 300 women are expected to attend Bendigo's Biggest Afternoon Teal, Ovarian Cancer Australia's flagship event timed to coincide with Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
The afternoon tea fundraiser will take place at 2pm at 140 High Street, Bendigo, and will be held in a marquee decorated in teal, the international colour for ovarian cancer.
Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month aims to raise awareness of ovarian cancer, which has the lowest survival rate of any women’s cancer.
The signs and symptoms are often very subtle, and with no early detection test a key focus for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month is to educate Australians and improve outcomes for women.
Lisa Smith, Bendigo for Ovarian Cancer committee member and Ovarian Cancer Ambassador for the region, said the event hoped to raise awareness about some of the symptoms and outcomes of the cancer, as well as fundraising for research.
"Our goal for the event was to bring as many women together as possible, of all ages and from all areas of the community and to make this information accessible," she said.

She said the fact four women were diagnosed with ovarian cancer each day and three would die of it represented "alarming" figures.
"We need to take action now and make a change, learn how to look after yourself, and each other," she said.
While there have been smaller fundraising events for ovarian cancer over the past two or three years, this is the first one that is a "Bendigo's biggest" concept.
Ms Smith said all the money raised through ticket sales would be donated to Ovarian Cancer Australia.
"We are thrilled with the turn out to both the actual event and with the additional support that has been shown from people who were unable to attend the event by buying our virtual tickets and making a donation," she said.
She said people could still buy virtual tickets and make a donation even if they were not attending the event.
"The virtual tickets are $20 and can still be purchased all day today, for any member of the community who would like to make a last minute donation to this very important cause," she said.
Teal Ribbons can be purchased for $2 each from Make Your House A Home and Jools for Jim Hair & Beauty.
Virtual tickets available from the websites of both businesses.
