Renowned artist John Wolseley will open Anthony Pelchen’s Kuang Road Prayer, an exhibition exploring issues of change, vulnerability and resilience.
While undertaking an Asialink artist residency in 2010, Pelchen was confronted with a wrecked motorcycle on Malaysia's Kuang Road. This encounter prompted an intensive investigation of ‘life in the balance’ through drawing, photography, video and sculpture.
In gallery two, The Barwon Interviews takes visitors beyond prison walls, where 12 anonymous men describe their experiences of incarceration on film.
Recorded on site at Barwon Prison, Natasha Carrington presents a complex narrative of individual agency, emotional tension and subversion towards the correctional system.
The VAC is open from noon to 5pm Saturday and Sunday and from 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Friday.
Both exhibitions run until Sunday, April 12.
