The Hawks have been without an under-17 team in the Heathcote District Football League since midway through the 2013 season.
Senior player Matthew Jefferies has been appointed coach of the Hawks’ under-17s, but more players are needed if the side is to take the field this season.
“Matthew is actively working hard trying to get the numbers for a side,” Huntly president Ian Sladden said on Saturday.
While the Hawks are struggling for under-17 numbers, the club has good numbers in their junior sides underneath.
“Our under-9s are full, it looks like we’ll be full with under-10s, we’ll have an under-12 side, we’re full with under-14s and I’d say we’ll have an under-16 team,” Sladden said.
“So it’s not going to take long for those kids to begin filtering through into the under-17s.”
Huntly’s senior and junior clubs are now aligned as one.
