UPDATE, WEDNESDAY 9.15am:
A MAN who survived being trapped in a grain silo for about three hours on Tuesday was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital yesterday.
The Bendigo Advertiser reported the man was airlifted from the property at Axe Creek to Bendigo Health.
This was incorrect.
Firefighters who rescued the man were taken to Bendigo Health as a precaution but were later discharged.
UPDATE 6.48PM: The man is being loaded into a waiting Air Ambulance and will soon be flown to Bendigo Health.
UPDATE 6:40PM: The man has been rescued from the silo.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said the man in his 60s was freed shortly after 6.20pm.
She said the man was in a stable condition and would be transported to Bendigo Health.
"He had been in the silo up to three hours," the spokesperson said.
"We only got the call about 4.15pm.
"They will do a fairly big assessment of him in hospital but he was in a stable condition when freed and they kept his fluids up (during the ordeal).
Police, paramedics, State Emergency Service and Country Fire Authority crews worked to free the man for more than two hours.
UPDATE 6PM: A road ambulance has just arrived at the property.
It is believed grain is being released from the silo.
UPDATE 5.20PM: Ambulance Victoria has confirmed a man aged in his 60s has been trapped in the grain silo since 4.13pm.
The spokesman said the man was in good condition and comfortable despite his ordeal and was expected to be rescued from the silo in the next 30 minutes.
''His vital signs are good,'' the spokesman said.
The man will be flown to Bendigo Hospital as a precaution after being removed from the silo.
The man is believed trapped up to his waist in the grain.
UPDATE 5.10PM: The air ambulance helicopter is arriving at the scene of a grain silo rescue.
The helicopter has set down in a paddock 50 metres from the silo.
A local resident has told the Bendigo Advertiser the farm is run by three brothers who also operate a bus company.
Two private vehicles have entered the property.
One rescue personnel members continues to work on top of the grain silo with a second in the bucket of the CFA platform ladder bucket.
The property is on the border of Axe Creek and Strathfieldsaye.
UPDATE 4.55PM: The CFA member has now left the bucket of the ladder platform and is working on top of the silo as the rescue operation continues.
The ladder platform is now transferring a second man to the roof of the silo.
A mine rescue vehicle has arrived at the scene to assist.
UPDATE 4.50PM: Two Country Fire Authority trucks, two Victoria Police vehicles and an ambulance have arrived at the scene of a rescue at a grain silo in Mannes Road.
The CFA platform crane is being used in the rescue operation.
A fireman is positioned in the crane bucket near the top of the silo.
EARLIER: A MAJOR rescue operation is underway at Axe Creek to free a man stuck in a grain silo.
A Country Fire Authority ladder platform is being moved toward the silo to try and free the man.
Another man is on the roof of the silo guiding the rescue.
A State Emergency Service vehicle is stationed at the bottom of the silo.
The silo is positioned about 500 metres off Mannes Road and 200 metres from a nearby house.
Mannes Road is about 20 kilometres south east of Bendigo.
