Eighteen students from China visited Bendigo Senior Secondary College from Yucai Experimental School in Nanning, China, and learn they did.
BSSC hosted the students for a range of cultural exchange activities.
The students had the opportunity to teach Chinese to Camp Hill primary school students, attend English language classes at BSSC and Australian cooking classes.
The students also visited Bendigo attractions including the Bendigo Art Gallery and Sacred Heart Cathedral.
BSSC Chinese teacher June Featherstone said the Australian students enjoyed having Chinese students in the school.
She said it was the students' first time to visit Australia.
"The students have never done much baking because most Chinese houses don't even have ovens," she said.
"To get this experience for them is really big.
"It's good for them to have other students show them around the school.
"The students most looked forward to hosting a Chinese class at BSSC."
Ms Featherstone said the students would perform a cultural dance before returning to China on Friday.
Assistant Principal Linda Lyons said the visit was a great opportunity to students to share experiences.
She said the visit would expand on their knowledge of Chinese and English language.
"BSSC is excited to welcome the students from the school," she said.
"The visit and program of activities will broaden the global perspectives of BSSC and Yucai students and enhance our students' Asia literacy skills.
"BSSC has a number of sister school relationships with schools in China, Germany and Indonesia. Our students have the opportunity to visit these schools and participate in cultural learning trips. We have two China trip opportunities planned for 2015."
To get this experience for them is really big.
