A three-time winner of the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Advertiser-Prime 7 Sports Star of the Year award, O'Shea is in the running in the 50th year.
The heat was on from the opening lap in Friday night's contest as O'Shea pursued back-to-back points score titles.
After 50 laps, O'Shea took a lap with Jackson Law, Alex Edmondson, Luke Davison and Stephen Hall.
In a race decided by laps taken and points accrued in sprints, O'Shea's tactical nous and strength reigned supreme.
"I felt really good, something I've really worked on this year is the bunch racing, backing myself and riding positive," said O'Shea after claiming his third career points crown in six years.
A world omnium champion and one of the best all-round track cyclists in the world, O'Shea was to the fore in the sprints and gained three laps.
O'Shea scored 107 points to win the duel for gold ahead of Sam Welsford, 73, and Stephen Hall, 71.
The national titles campaign for O'Shea included silver in the teams pursuit racing in the Budget Forklifts colours.
Saturday night's finale to the CA track nationals included Jack Bobridge's attempt to break the UCI Hour Record.
Bobridge racked up 51.852 kilometres in 60 minutes, an agonising 500 metres off his intended target of 207 laps.
He completeed 205 laps in the second fastest hour record.
Bobridge and O'Shea are team-mates with Budget Forklifts and were in Australia's gold medal-winning teams pursuit line-up at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
They will join forces in next month's Bendigo International Madison track classic.
