The fire was reported at 4.40pm.
The fire burnt from a small footbridge in the reserve, burning for about 20 metres through grass land and several trees.
Air support was also called in for the fire.
The nearest houses are about 50 metres away.
The footbridge crosses the dry Jobs Gully Creek.
Department of Environment and Primary Industries staff will arrive shortly to investigate a cause.
The CFA issued an Advice warning for residents in California Gully in relation to the fire.
Crews are now rehabilitating the Crown land.
