The new turf is part of the $800,000 reconstruction project at the ground.
Works completed so far include a complete overhaul of the ground’s drainage and recycled water irrigation system.
Local user groups are working with the Macedon Ranges Shire Council to ensure the ground is protected so that it will be ready for play in time for round one of the Woodend Cricket Club’s 2015-16 season.
Macedon Ranges Shire mayor Jennifer Anderson said the works were a major development that would allow the oval to be used all year round.
“The new surface will address the wet and boggy conditions that the ground has experienced for a number of years in winter,” Cr Anderson said.
“I’d like to thank the community and local sporting groups for their support and patience for this important project, which will significantly improve this facility for future generations.”
