UPDATE 10.10pm: FIRE investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that burnt near houses in a southern residential area of Kyneton.

Crews responded to the fire at 5.30pm on Friday after reports of a suspicious fire near a creek bed alongside Village Green Drive.
The fire burnt three quarters of a hectare through grass and shrub, heading in northerly direction about 30 metres from the road.
The fire ran parallel to the road, approximately 40 metres from houses on the other side of Village Green Drive, Acting Sergeant Lucinda Marciniak said.
Crews from as far away as Woodend and Tarradale responded to the call, along with all local brigades.
The fire was brought under control before 6.30pm, but back burning continued into the night.
Air support was also called in to assist.
An earlier fire near Tongala also caused an Emergency warning for the town at 4.45pm and threatened houses and sheds.
Twelve crews responded to the fire on Finlay Road, heading towards Wyuna.
UPDATE 6.40pm: The fire that burnt in the south of Kyneton is now under control.
A spokesperson for the CFA said no properties were threatened during the fire, which was contained within a riverbed of the Campaspe River.
The fire burnt grass and scrub.
Fire crews will remain on the scene for the coming hours blacking out the area.
The CFA advises that smoke will remain visible over the south of Kyneton throughout the evening.
Twelve units attended the fire, including units from Woodend and Tarradale.
UPDATE 6.10pm: The fire near Tongala is now listed as under control.
An Advice warning is current for the fire near Irene Way, Kyneton.
UPDATE 5.40pm: Fire crews are responding to a suspicious fire in Kyneton's south, a spokesperson for the CFA said.
A large amount of smoke is visible in the area near Irene Way.
The fire near Tongala remains at a Watch and Act level.
The fire has burnt 50 hectares in the direction of Wyuna.
UPDATE 5.06pm: The fire burning to the east of Tongala has been downgraded to a Watch and Act.
The fire was reported at 4.30pm and burnt in a northerly direction from Finlay Road.
A spokesperson for the CFA said the fire threatened houses and dairy sheds nearby before fire crews arrived to perform asset protection.
The Helitack helicopter also provided support to crews.
The fire is continuing to burn in a northerly direction and 14 crews are on the scene.
EARLIER: The CFA has issued an Emergency warning for Tongala as a grass fire spreads to the east of the town.
The fire is burning from Finlay Road, near the Palmer Road intersection.
Fourteen CFA vehicles are either in attendance or on their way to the fire.
