The famous Strictly Ballroom movie featuring Scott Hastings and his new dance partner Fran had been transformed from the silver-screen into a musical.
I had been counting down the days to see Baz Luhrmann's magnificent creation and the glamorous production delivered on all levels.
With a giant mirror ball hanging from the ceiling and advertising for the Pan Pacific Grand Prix hanging on the walls, you were transported back to a magical time where ballroom dancing was all that was important.
The opening number set the tone for the rest of the show.
The detailed costumes stood out, the music had everyone in the audience bopping around in their seat and the funny one-liners made famous in the movie also added another level to the show.
The set and the costumes were designed by the wonderfully talented Katherine Martin.
The intricate ballroom gowns were showstoppers and the pineapple Tina Sparkle outfit was incredible.
The performances of main characters, Thomas Lacey as Scott Hastings and Phoebe Panaretos as Fran, were effortless.
Their connection and chemistry is clear to see on stage.
The duo both have incredible voices and did well to bring the couple to life on stage.
The performances of Heather Mitchell as Shirley Hastings and Natalie Gamsu as Abuela were also spectacular.
There was no doubt members of the audience were smiling from the beginning to the end.
The tag line for the show was you will be dancing in the aisles by the end of the show and that's exactly what happened.
I was up there on stage dancing with the cast to the Johnny Young classic 'Love is in the Air'.
Even if you aren't a fan of musicals, the story is more than just about dancing, it is a heartwarming story that will resonate with many people.
Do yourself a favour and go and see Strictly Ballroom the Musical.
