MOTORISTS are advised that the Midland Highway near Harcourt will be temporarily closed to all traffic from next week for important road works.

VicRoads contractors will undertake the works to strengthen sections of the Midland Highway on either side of the Calder Freeway interchange.
The works will begin Monday February 2 and are expected to be completed by Friday 13 February.
During this time sections of the Midland Highway and ramp connections from the Calder Freeway at Harcourt will be closed.
Detours will be well signed with electronic message boards to alert motorists to the changed traffic conditions.
Detours will include:
Travelling south from Bendigo to Harcourt and Castlemaine
Detour left off Calder Freeway at Fogartys Gap Road intersection and use Harmony Way (Old Calder Highway).
South from Harcourt
Use detour on Harmony Way (Old Calder Highway) and join the Calder Freeway at Elphinstone interchange.
North from Melbourne to Castlemaine/Harcourt
Detour left from the Calder Freeway at Elphinstone interchange and use the Pyrenees Highway for Castlemaine or Harmony Way (Old Calder Highway) for Harcourt.
North from Castlemaine to Bendigo
Detour right from the Midland Highway at Blackjack Road, travel via Harcourt and rejoin the Calder Freeway at Fogartys Gap Road intersection.
South from Castlemaine to Melbourne
Use either the Pyrenees Highway or Harmony Way (Old Calder Highway) via Harcourt to join onto the Calder Freeway at the Elphinstone interchange.
Traffic controllers will also be onsite at various locations to assist motorists and minimise any delays. However, locals and regular travellers in the area are encouraged to plan their trips and to factor in an additional 10 minutes travelling time.
All motorists are advised to observe the changed traffic conditions, including detours and work zone speed limits for their own safety and the safety of workers in the area.
