UPDATE 6.26PM: Here's the latest on the big outage from Sydney Morning Herald.
''A digital sigh of relief has swept the globe as Facebook, Instagram and Tinder came back online, after an outage which lasted almost an hour,'' smh.com.au reported.
''Just after 5.20pm (AEST) on Tuesday, users attempting to access Facebook received an error message which read, "Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on it and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can."
''The mobile apps for both Facebook and Twitter were also down, citing a connection error.
''Tinder requires users to link their Facebook account as their login profile, which is likely why it too suffered an outage.
''Users on Twitter, which was not affected by any blackout, began tweeting their shared frustration that they could not access the social media networks.''
UPDATE 6.22PM: We just jumped on the Facebook Twitter account to get an explanation for the big outage.
The latest Facebook post on Twitter was six days ago.
Seems Twitter not that favourable for Facebook despite having 13.9 million followers.

SOCIAL media users have turned to Twitter to vent their frustration as Facebook and Instagram has gone down.
Technology website TNVV reports it's not clear what's causing the outage.
''Facebook-owned mobile messaging service WhatsApp is running as usual,'' it said.
''The last instance of Facebook going down was back in September, when the social network went down twice that month.
''The most recent outage lasted about 15 minutes.''
