Warming up for a second year in the National Premier League Victoria division one action, Bendigo City showed a lot of skill on the soccer pitch.
New playing coach Greg Thomas said he was "really happy" with the team's play and workrate.
"It was our first hit-out in pre-season and there were a lot of positive signs," said Thomas, who played in midfield.
"As a coach I was not overly concerned about the result, win or lose, but more about the way we linked up and worked for each other."
A star in Bendigo's attack last season, Slefendorfas beat the keeper twice by foot and headed another goal.
"The header for a goal capped off terrific teamwork."
Slefendorfas has represented Papua New Guinea.
With several recruits on the pitch, Thomas said the hit-out against a club in the NPL's top flight was a great chance to try various positional moves.
Play at Epsom kicked off with the under-20s match. Werribee won 6-2.
Bendigo City is likely to be on the road this Thursday for a hit-out against Avondale Heights in Gisborne. Match day, time and venue to be confirmed.
