RELATED: Bendigo fire victims given new house
BENDIGO resident Terri Pianta is planning her first overseas holiday after winning a trip to Fiji in a lucky draw.
It's a welcome turn of events for Ms Pianta, after a tough couple of years in which she lost everything in a house fire in 2013.
Ms Pianta said it was wonderful to have some good "karma" for a change.
"I don’t usually win anything, maybe $2 off a scratchie but that's it," she said.
She collected coupons in the Bendigo Advertiser which she then entered in a draw at the Bendigo Pacing Cup last weekend.
Ms Pianta won a five-night trip for two to the Shangri-La Fijian Resort and Spa, which will include airfares, transfers and breakfasts.
She will take her daughter, friend Vicky and her daughter for an "awesome foursome getaway".
Ms Pianta said her friend had been a great support through tough times.
"She makes the darkest days bright."
Ms Pianta said she had not had more than a day-trip in a long time.
She is preparing for the trip by learning a few Fijian words.
"Apparently the people are just gorgeous over there," Ms Pianta said.
