Nina has been volunteering with the organisation for more than 20 years, helping out and talking to people who are in need.
She has had many roles at the Salvation Army, from catering, to community help, to talking to people who are struggling and just need a hand with a whole range of other things.
Now Nina mainly monitors and looks after the music program, keeping children happy and safe.
Nina’s real passion with the Salvation Army is helping people who are struggling and are having a hard time in their lives and just need someone to listen to them and lend them a hand.
“I like talking to people and meeting them and hearing their stories,” she said.
Nina said her interest on the Salvation Army was sparked by the Red Shield Appeal, and also the Girl Guides.
Nina said her first thoughts upon setting foot in the Salvation Army were, “I have come home”.
Nina said anybody could come along to the Salvation Army for any reason and talk through any difficulties or struggles they may be facing. They should know that there were always people to help.
“We are very happy when people come along,” she said.
