Despite some anxious moments as the Australia Pork-backed Bendigo Spirit fought back in the last quarter, Dandenong fought on to win Friday night's clash at home by seven points.
A highly-charged contest which carried plenty at stake for both clubs lived up to expectations.
Spirit dominated the early minutes, but the Rangers were within a point by quarter-time.
Momentum then swung dramatically the way of the home team.
The Rangers went on an 8-1 run early in the second on the way to a 44-41 lead at half-time.
Dandenong ominated most of the third quarter and into the last as the lead ballooned to 13 before Bendigo surged to be within four at 3.34 to play.
It was Dandenong, led by Alice Kunek, 21 points; Penny Taylor, 18; Annalise Pickrel and Cappie Pondexter 17; which held its nerve.
Bendigo Spirit forward Kelsey Griffin hit a match-high 23 points and Sara Blicavs scored 17.
