THE City of Greater Bendigo says Friday's flash flooding highlights the need for council to push on with a remaining $48 million backlog of works.
The council held a media briefing on Monday afternoon to outline the impact of the flood, the progress of flood mitigation works and the overall response to calls for assistance.
Mayor Peter Cox said the council had already spent $22 million on the $70 million backlog, including 143 specific projects.
Eighty of the projects relate to addressing flooding inside people's houses and businesses.
He said a further 155 projects remain to be completed.
"There's been a significant change in the last few years about prioritising flood projects," Cr Cox said.
The City of Greater Bendigo ramped up its flood works in the wake of large storms in 2010 and 2011.
No council buildings sustained extensive damage in the flooding.
Cr Cox said they could apply for funding through Regional Development Victoria should any buildings require repair works.
