Bridegroom: Rick Ellis
Wedding: October 18, 2014
The meeting
We met through a mutual friend. This friend had been working on getting us together for a few years, unbeknown to us. After a bit of persuasion from both parties, numbers were exchanged and things went from there. After seven years, we can now say we are happily married.
The proposal
We went on a well overdue holiday to Cairns in 2013 and Rick proposed on the second-last day of our holiday, in style. It was nice to return home with some great news to share with our friends and family.
The ring
My rings were designed by a very talented local jeweller, Kate Blackwood.
The wedding day
Our wedding day was all that we could imagine and more. It was just beautiful. Having invited our closest friends and family we can’t thank them enough for helping us celebrate our special day. We arrived in our Ford XD 1979 Fairmont Ghia that was restored in time for the wedding, by the groom himself. It was touch and go at times whether it would be ready for the big day, but with some work, it didn’t miss a beat on the day. With beautiful weather, Langley Hall at White Hills, provided an amazing backdrop for our rustic garden ceremony. Our reception was held at Quills Restaurant. It was exactly the atmosphere we were after.
The dress
I found it very challenging to find the perfect dress when I didn’t have my heart set on a style. I had been to Geelong and Melbourne, shopping, and I was starting to think that it was not my thing. That is, until I walked into Bendigo Bridal. Thanks to Bron and the girls they found me the most beautiful dress. The first time I tried it on I knew it was the one. I felt like a real princess. I also got my bridesmaids dressed there as well.
The cake
Thanks to Noeline Ead, the cake fitted perfectly into our simple but elegant theme. It was a two-tier, caramel and chocolate mud cake. It was just delicious
The photographer
We had the honour of having the very talented young Samantha Elisabeth Photography as our photographer. Sam worked well with us - she made us feel calm and relaxed throughout the day. She had some great fun photo ideas and was happy to work in with the locations that we had picked for our photos.
The honeymoon
We left for our honeymoon the Monday after the wedding. We packed up the car and boarded the Spirit of Tasmania then spent a week driving around Tasmania seeing the sites.
