Apprentice jockey Chris Parnham rode a winning double in his first two rides in Victoria.
In just three years of race riding the 17-year-old has made a big impact on WA racing.
He showed his class on Sunday, winning the two-year-old event on the Wez Hunter-trained Parcel and the 3YO fillies maiden aboard Gaunteng Gal.
Parcel’s sizzling time of 51.07 seconds broke Innovation Girl’s 900m track record by 0.15 seconds.
“It’s good to get a double,” he said.
“They’re a couple of nice horses and I’m very fortunate to ride them.”
Parnham returned to Perth straight after Sunday’s meeting, but is likely to make more trips to Victoria in the coming months.
Leading jockey Mark Zahra also enjoyed a winning double.
Zahra won race five in impressive style aboard Oh So Assertive and then backed up in race seven with a barnstorming finish from near last to salute on the Robbie Griffiths-trained gelding Edgewood.
