A V/Line spokesperson said the first service to resume would be the 6.36pm service out of Melbourne to Swan Hill on Saturday night.
He said speed restrictions would be in place on the line for the next few weeks while replaced sleepers "consolidated" and settled.
Some damage to sleepers on the tracks occurred as a result of a collision between a V/Line train and a truck in Woodvale on Friday, the spokesman said.
The spokesperson said the set of rear wheels on the first carriage derailed as a result of the collision.
He said the train was put back on the tracks on Friday night and moved to a Bendigo workshop.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said police were investigating what caused the collision, which resulted in two passengers receiving minor injuries after the truck and train collided about 3pm.
