Bridegroom’s name: Ben Place
Wedding date: October 18, 2014
The meeting:
We knew each other for five years before we started dating as Ben was my sister's best friend and became, over time, a friend of the family. He was often visiting or helping out with odd jobs around the farm.
It wasn’t until Ben did a plastering job for my parents and came on a family holiday that we become close. For my birthday I had a Halloween dress-up party and we had a great night; he asked me out a few days later, after he rang my dad to ask if he could. That was cute.
The proposal:
It was new year’s eve and we were down in Melbourne at a family friend’s house to celebrate the night. It was right on twelve o'clock and he handed me a cheezel and asked me to marry him. I said yes!
The wedding day:
The wedding was a lovely spring day and went really well. We were very lucky with the weather as we got in before it got too hot.
The ceremony was on private property. On the hills in front of ruins of an old butter factory was a beautiful setting.
We had a country theme to our wedding with the wedding party wearing cowboy boots. The bride and the bridesmaids walked over the Harcourt hills on camels.
The reception was held at the Mandurang Hall which was decorated with straw bales and hessian. Almost everything was handmade - the table decorations etc. My mum made the bridesmaids dresses which made it so much more special.
The dress:
I loved the dress the first time I saw it and had picked it out even before I had the man. It’s Australian made and Nicole at Four Wedding a and a Formal was amazing, making everything so stress free.
The Cake:
The cake was made by our lovely friend Gabrielle Browne. She did an awesome job and included the cake topper I saw a picture of on Google. It really suited us.
The photographer:
The photographs were taken by my Uncle Bill, and Uncle Robert did the video of the wedding. They both did such a great job.
The honeymoon:
We went to the Otway’s for three nights and stayed at "The window to the Otways ". It was very nice. Then we came home for a night and flew out to the Whitsundays for a week - it was very relaxing.
