Year 10 student and school captain Tallis Miles picked up a swag of awards including dux of the college and Student of the Year.
Tallis was also named as the recipient of the Pierre de Coubetin Award and Fred Smith Award for humanities.
Weeroona College community leader Sarah Trew said the student of the year award recognised a student who had showed values of respect, integrity and personal excellence.
"Tallis always involves himself in every aspect of the school community and is a student that is called upon by other students to assist them," she said.
"Not only with their classwork and things like that, but solving problems, they go to him for advice on different bits and pieces."
Weeroona College principal Leanne Preece described Tallis as an all rounder who was representative of the high standards achieved by the college this year.
“He’s community minded and also a very gifted sportsman as well, and along with that he’s just a terrific young person and we’re proud to have had him as a student,” she said.
“He’s always really thoughtful whether it’s with the young students, or his peers, he’s always really helpful.”
Other students to receive multiple awards on the night included Brandon McInnes, David Spofforth, Mitchel Hammer and Tiana Desmond, all with four; Caitlin Jackson and Georgia Coverdale with five; and Jack Bourke with six.
Ms Preece said the awards night exemplified the school’s motto: We Create Brilliance.
“One thing that I was really pleased about this year was that we recognised the achievement of a lot more students,” she said.
“Quite often they say schooling is more suited to girls but we had a lot of boys as well as girls achieving recognition."
"I think we’ve had a terrific year here at Weeroona College Bendigo. We’ve really developed that culture of high expectation amongst all of our young people and they’re rising to meet the challenge.”
Other notable award recipients include Bailey Goodwin, Mitchel Hammer, Nicole Hill, Sian Burke and Thomas McKerrow who received the La Trobe University Inifinty Award for students who had demonstrated academic excellence and positive participation in their studies; and Alannah Sheridan who received the Bendigo Senior Secondary College VCE Award for excellence in all subjects.
