It’s been a privilege to care for the children, as they have all been different and unique in their own way.

THE end of a 32-year working life is certainly worthy of note, but for early childhood educator Beth Lynch, she would rather it passed unnoticed.

Understated, quiet, and a self-described private person, Beth would rather tell you about all the other great people she has worked with, rather than talk about herself.
Over the years she has helped nurture 800 children in her groups at the Kangaroo Flat Pre School in Carpenter Street.
They arrive a bit uncertain about the start of this new adventure in their lives and at the end of the year, their confidence and skills have been developed so that they are ready for school.
“It’s been a privilege to care for the children, as they have all been different and unique in their own way," Beth says.
"Through encouragement we get them to try new things and they blossom by the year’s end."
Married to John, the couple raised two sons, and today they have six grandchildren, two girls and four boys.
Beth is more than happy to settle into nana status.
“Over my working life I have met the most amazing and friendly families, too," she says.
"It’s been a wonderful time of my life.”
In retirement, Beth plans to spend more time with family and friends, to travel around to see more of Australia and hopefully to revisit New Zealand.
Other leisure time activities she enjoys are reading and spending time in the garden.
But for this Belvoir Park Golf Club member, it is her golf handicap that needs more work and some serious attention will be paid to this ambitious project.
Beth admits she is determined to get it down below 30, to a more respectable level.
For this quiet achiever, workmate, nana and calm friend, it’s a pretty good aim for the next 12 months or so.
When asked about working with Beth, Kangaroo Flat Pre School educational leader Suzanne McCartney said she always brought a smile to everyone’s face.
“I've worked with Beth the longest at the centre," Ms McCartney said.
"She has been a dedicated member of our team and will be missed.”
