A TEAM of Bendigo East swimmers has raced off against some of the state's best swimmers at the Victorian Age Championships this week.

Twenty-one swimmers from the club took part in the meet, held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.
Overall most of the swimmers competing broke several of their own personal best times.
Young gun Kate Jordan finished seventh in the girls 17-18 years 100m breaststroke, she was fifth in the 400m IM, fifth in the 200m breaststroke, sixth in the 17-18 years 100m butterfly and fifth in the 17-18 years 200m IM.
Matthew Slot was eighth in the boys 16-years 400m freestyle and eighth in 400m IM.
Emily Evans finished sixth in the girls 12-years 100m backstroke and ninth in the 200m backstroke.
Harry Downing was sixth in the boys 11-and-under 200m IM.
Mitchell Sherlock eighth in the boys 13-and-under 800m freestyle with a 14 second personal best time and an eighth place in the 13-years 200m butterfly.
Kiara Verbeek was also ninth in the 14-years 100m breastroke.
There was also some outstanding performances by former Bendigo East swimmers, who now swim with Melbourne-based clubs.
Jenna Strauch returned to form after an illness battle, winning gold in the girls 17-18 years 100m and 200m breaststroke events.
Isabella Symons upstaged the favorites to win a gold medal in the girls 15- years 200m butterfly.
Jacob Waller was a part of the silver medal winning boys 18-and-under 4x100m freestyle relay team, representing MLC Aquatic.
Strathfieldsaye teen Rebecca Holmes also won a bronze in the girls 17-18-years 200m freestyle.
