UPDATE: TUESDAY, 4.40PM: Senior Constable David Sanders of Bendigo Highway Patrol says drugs may be a factor in a crash near the One Tree Hill lookout.
A 22-year-old male from Ascot was driving his white Mazda RX8 uphill when he lost control, veered to the wrong side of the road, over-corrected and collided with a tree at 2.45pm.
The car was then engulfed in flames. The driver was not injured in the crash.
A CFA member at a nearby watch tower noticed smoke from the crash and called in emergency services.
The fire spread to several nearby trees but was quickly contained.
Senior Constable Sanders said police will wait on laboratory results from the drug test before determining a cause of the crash.
UPDATE 3.15PM: Police are interviewing the driver at the scene.
The driver of the Mazda RX8 was wearing a purple and yellow dragon onesie.
Bendigo fire brigade senior station officer Greg Hill said the driver was heading uphill and appeared to lose control.
