For gift donations, St Luke's is asking for new, unwrapped presents for a child or teenager.
Donations to the appeal can also be made by cheque or as a cash commitment on the St Luke’s website.
Money raised goes towards gifts to children with different needs including a disability, a specific hobby or size.
St Luke’s Early Years Centre staff said they were going the 'extra mile' to meet the increased demand and ensure local residents facing hardship did not miss out on receiving something special.
Appeal coordinator Sue Tupper said local businesses, such as Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Art Gallery, were arranging their own giving tree or donation box in the office.
Gifts can be placed under the St Luke’s Christmas tree at IGA in Strath Village Shopping Centre.
IGA manager Ruby Walker said the appeal was a great opportunity for the community to support the work of St Luke’s and help to brighten this Christmas for someone in need.
Donations can be left at the IGA until 5pm on Friday, 19 December.
Businesses interested in participating can contact Sue Tupper on 0400 624 657.
