Munari said on Friday his family's links to the club led to deciding to leave South Bendigo for Sandhurst.
"It was not an easy call to make," he said of wanting to leave the Bloods.
The 19-year-old's great-uncle, Nildo Munari, and grandfather Dino Munari, both played for Sandhurst.
"I played all my junior footy at Kennington-Sandhurst," Munari said.
The past six seasons, Munari has played for the Bendigo Pioneers in the TAC Cup, at South Bendigo, or the now defunct Bendigo Gold in the VFL.
"There has not been a lot of success," he said of his run with all three clubs.
"Sandhurst is hungry for success and I am excited by the challenge of working to earn a place in the team and playing well."
His versatility will be a plus for a Sandhurst line-up determined to go one better than being runner-up in the Bendigo FNL last September.
