The Bendigo Advertiser, 3BOFM and the City of Greater Bendigo's Twinkle Twinkle Bendigo - Keeping Christmas Local campaign is giving prizes to the best Christmas displays around the city while encouraging central Victorians to shop locally.
Bargain Buys store manager Tiez Wilson said shopping locally in Eaglehawk was important.
"We have a great community spirit in our little town that I think gets overlooked by the hustle and bustle of the City of Bendigo," she said.
She said the store tried a different approach when it came to their creating their display.
"In our display we used products that are stocked in store to try to encourage and inspire our customers to get creative, and to show that you can have something that looks so amazing for a small price or on a budget.
"Even though we don't have a winter Christmas here in Australia, we wanted to encourage people to incorporate their fireplaces into their own Christmas displays at home."
She inspired other businesses to take part in the campaign.
"We feel that the response to our windows has been a great success and it seems to be inspiring people to shop in our store," she said.
