She said she had a small tear in her calf and was hoping to get on court this weekend.
“Last week was probably a precaution," Richards said.
“It is coming along well.
“If it was a final I might have considered playing but it just wasn’t worth risking it.
“If I had done more damage to it I would have been out for a lot longer.”
Richards found out she wasn’t as calm sitting on the sidelines watching her team-mates play, especially after the Spirit scored a dramatic overtime win against Townsville.
“It was an incredible win,” she said.
“I am horrible at watching games on the sidelines, sitting on the bench was awful especially because it was an intense game.
“The girls can certainly take a lot of confidence out of the win, especially the way we defended, if we can defend like that and minimise the lapses we had we are going to be a tough team.”
Richards along with her Spirit team-mates Kelsey Griffin, Kristi Harrower and Sara Blicavs were on hand to pick up their new Toyota Yaris’.
Each year the Bendigo dealership provides cars for the players, allowing the stars to explore the city.
Dealer principal Paul DeAraugo said it was no brainer to support the local team.
“These ladies do an incredible job carrying Bendigo’s name around the country,” he said.
“You only have to watch them play to know how dedicated they are.”
