It is grossly offensive to CFA volunteers to suggest they haven’t done their training and are not ready to hop on the fire truck this bushfire season.
CFA volunteer firefighters are professionals who train regularly and put themselves out there for the community, every day and night of the year.
The vast majority of firefighters on the front line during bushfire season are CFA volunteers, as are many of the incident controllers and personnel in support roles.
To give the impression that an election year squabble between a union and the political parties in any way reduces our readiness for the fire season is just irresponsible scaremongering.
Prepare your property, have an action plan for your family’s safety and rest assured that your local CFA brigades will be right here and ready when you need us.
