Mueck's four-under par 68 was one of the lowest rounds on the final day of the Masters and it gave the Axedale product's confidence a boost ahead of his trip to the testing Australian Golf Club for the Open.
"It was a really good finish, I was three-under through the final five holes, including a long birdie putt on 18,'' Mueck said of his Masters final round, which saw him finish tied for 25th.
"It was good to put a nice round together like that and it certainly helps confidence wise for this week."
While Mueck will draw confidence from his performance at Metropolitan, he said The Australian is a different beast.
"The only similarity between the two courses is the speed of the greens,'' Mueck said.
"The sand is different in the bunkers, the fairways are narrower, there's plenty of rough and it's longer.
"There's probably only a handful of birdie chances here. You have to hit long irons into a lot of greens, so it's going to be tough."
Fellow Bendigo professional Andrew Martin echoed Mueck's thoughts on the course.
Martin, who finished in a tie for 50th at the Masters, said par would be a good score on most holes this week.
"Nine-under won the Masters last week and, depending on the wind, the winning score this week might not reach that,'' Martin said.
"You have to hit a lot of drivers off the tee here. It suits Rory (McIlroy) and Adam (Scott) and it will be interesting to see how they go.
"For the majority of us it's going to be hard to make a lot or birdies. It's a brutal course."
Mueck has an 8.45am tee time for Thursday's first round, while Martin is in the final group out at 1.45pm.
