This follows the lead set back in the 1950s after the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, with the construction of the pool now called the Bendigo Aquatic Centre. Where would we be without venues like Bendigo basketball and netball centre? Bendigo built it and they came.
The Tom Flood cycling and athletics tracks were built and improved. Bendigo built it and they came. Eaglehawk's Peter Krenz pool was built to improve conditions for swimmers. Bendigo commissioners built it and they came.
The north central region district swimming clubs now require the Kangaroo Flat heated pool. It is essential and in demand.
The community is supportive, the primary, secondary schools are supportive, the state is supportive, swimming Australia is supportive. Bendigo can build the aquatic and wellbeing centre for this region.
Build it and they will come.
