LITTER bugs are discarding general waste and unwanted items at a growing rate in Eaglehawk, with volunteers left to clean up the mess.

Eaglehawk North Primary School is part of the Adopt a Roadside Program and is responsible for a three kilometre stretch of road in Sailors Gully.
Teachers and parents collected 12 garbage bags of litter and hard rubbish, including tyres and a child's car seat, during a working bee at the weekend.
In one location, volunteers found soiled nappies, a hypodermic needle and old clothing.
Assistant principal John Morton said the behaviour was becoming more prevalent and was unacceptable.
"We shouldn't have to have the Adopt a Roadside Program. It should be obsolete," he said.
Mr Morton said the most collected pieces of litter were from takeaway shops, including McDonald's, however said the closest restaurant was more than five kilometres away.
He said he expected litter to increase when a new McDonald's was built in California Gully.
"I think we will see more litter," he said.
"People need to take more care. They should do what I do. Leave it in the car until you get home and can put it in the rubbish bin - it's not too hard."
