The talented young gun was selected in the All Stars futsal squad and will travel across the Asian country for about two weeks, exploring cities and taking part in an extensive training camp before competing in the MPR Junior Futsal Cup in Kuching.
“He is ecstatic, he cannot wait to get over there and play,” Thomas’ proud father Travis said.
“There are 12 kids going to Malaysia and he is the only one from Bendigo.
“It will be such a great experience for him.”
The Girton Grammar student impressed selectors at the national championships in Sydney earlier this year and was named to play with the Australian team.
As part of the tour, Thomas will be involved in a training camp in Miri and will also play in a tournament in Mukah.
Travis said it had been a busy year for the youngster, playing in state futsal competitions as well as playing with FC Bendigo’s under-12 soccer team and footy with South Bendigo.
“Thomas enjoys playing both codes,” he said.
“It has been a big year for him but he has always been very dedicated to his sports.”
