Decentralisation is the way of the future. Councils aren’t implementing vital strategies and infrastructure to entice growth in the industrial arena.
Councils, especially Mount Alexander but also Bendigo, are only catering for the retirees, arts and pursuits of the so-called intellectuals within our communities.
What do you expect when councils are stocked with those of an academic background and CEOs with agendas that don’t benefit the business section that creates employment for our youth.
The blue collar sector has always been the backbone of our nation; without them, nothing at all would happen. We live in a fool's paradise.
This is supported by the print media in its failure to ask the hard questions of councils on expenditure and their plans to attract new business to central Victoria.
In other words, rail links to industrial estates, road upgrades to provide better movement of transport, power, water, sewerage etc. Cutting red tape to make central Victoria more attractive for industry thus creating more employment for our youths.
But no - the media and councils focus on “art”, environment, refugees, climate change, useless mega-pools, etc.
