The 2013 Sam Cheatley Medal winner spent this year playing with Rye and was one of the contestants on football TV show The Recruit.
He returns for a second stint with the Hawks, but this time he has added artillery - his brothers, Luke and Jake.
"We missed Ryan big time this year,'' Huntly president Ian Sladden said.
"It's great for the club that he wants to come back and we're delighted to have his brothers join the club as well. Ryan's told us he has unfinished business up here and he's very keen to do well."
Semmel's brilliant 2013 season helped the Hawks qualify for the grand final where they lost to LBU by 10 goals.
This time around the Hawks will have more depth through the midfield, with Luke and Jake Semmel highly-rated on-ballers and the club has also signed former Pyramid Hill assistant coach Gavin James.
"From all reports Luke and Jake are very good players... they'll add some hardness around the ball,'' Sladden said.
"Gavin James is a very good pick-up for us. He's very quick and we needed to add that run to our team, particularly for the big space of our home ground."
James was runner-up in this year's Harding Medal in the Loddon Valley Football Netball League.
Key forward Chris Gleeson, who kicked 77 goals in two seasons for the Hawks in 2012-13, will also return to Huntly.
"We really lacked another key target this year, so it's great to have Chris back,'' Sladden said.
Gleeson spent 2014 at Rye with the Semmel brothers where he kicked 28 goals, including five in the club's first semi-final win.
