While the school now has a Guinness World Record safe in its keeping, the real reason for Saturday’s event was not lost on anyone in the crowd.
They gathered in force to raise funds for former Prep teacher Mark Winter, who was this year diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
Mr Winter was a keen on-looker at the school community rallied in his honour to set a new Nutbush dance record.
His wife Prue Winter said the couple were overwhelmed by the show of support.
“I’m amazed – absolutely thrilled,” she said.
“I didn’t think it would be anywhere close to this big.
“We were talking the other day about how it might just be the organisers and me on the oval, but it’s not.”
Mrs Winter – who describes herself as a huge Nutbush fan – said she was heartened to see so many people get into the spirit of the occasion.
